Literal Game of cat and mouse: Showdown on Main Street
One night my cousin and I were driving down the main street in our town and, we got the redlight at the fork in the road. This particular red light is very long and, while we were waiting for it to change this is what we saw. First we thought it was just a cat in the middle of the road, until we noticed that it was playing with a mouse. What made this so hilarious is that there was another cat on the side of the road watching the action. This went on for a couple of seconds till we felt bad for the mouse and honked the horn, which, startled the cat and allowed the mouse to get away.
Christmas Tree Garbage Ball
It was a couple of weeks after christmas, and there was snow on the ground. We were driving down the street and saw to kids on the side of the road. While we watched one kid picked up a christmas tree on the side of the road and held it like a bat, while his friend throw a trash can at him. The kid with the tree swung it like it was a bat and hit the can. Then they saw we were watching and dropped both and ran off down a street nearby.
Hello Everybody
Telling the stories that you will read in One Heck of a Roadtrip, has been my cousin's and my dream for a long time. We came up with this idea because we always have crazy stuff happen to us when ever we are together. Whether it is getting lost in a familar area, witnessing weird events, having the oddest mishaps, or even our I love Lucy type of obsession with meeting our favorite celebrities. Hope you have as much fun reading these stories as we have telling them. Enjoy!!!

Lost in New York
My SIL's work has a trip to NY every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and we were supposed to leave sat at 5am, she was picking me up. I got up late (4:45) got dressed really fast, turned my phone on and she called....saying she couldn't go, she was sick and for me to Megan to go. Now'm at 4:50, I'm waking everyone in my aunts house up calling, Megan was excited to go....and this starts our crazy adventure............... I brought 75.00 and a credit card with me. Only planning on buying lunch. (that is important to know for later in the story). We get on the bus....the bus makes a stop in CT so we got some breakfast. We head to NY and the bus drops some people off near the public library in Manhattan, then the rest of us continue on to Canal street........for those of you not familiar...Canal street is famous for finding fake designer purses, tiffany jewelry, designer sunglasses etc. We all want to get fake coach bags. So the bus driver hooks us up with a lady he deals with. you go into this tiny tiny store and wait for them to open the door (the door is actually part of the wall) it's a secret passage. lol. they take 4 at a time into the back room. you then pick out your bag(s) and then bargain, I got a nice black coach for 23.00. Now in the meantime the lady says to one of her workers "you watch for police" (which I think is a big show because everyone knows about canal street so why wouldn't the police shut them down) we were supposed to take the bus back to downtown but didn't want to wait until 12:30 so we decided to walk and it would be quite a walk but it was a beautiful day. We walked through soho and greenwich village (where we saw a sara jessica parker lookalike) and by the time we got to 14th street, we were starving - our mission was to get to the carnegie deli which was on 57th street -- we decided that two somewhat intelligent people like ourselves could figure out the subway system so we could get there quicker -- we asked what train to take and followed the directions. while we were on the train.......i said to Megan...."i think we are going the wrong way" So I asked someone "what stop are you getting off at" -- he said 50th st. I said ok, then figured we'd be fine. We get off, and i ask which to 7th ave (carnegie deli is on 7th and 55th) the guy points me in the right direction so we walk about a 15 minute walk............we get to 7th ave and I say "Megan, this is not the same 7th ave that I stayed on in July" We ask some nice lady where we are she says..........BROOKLYN So now we have to walk more to get to the subway -- finally we get to the right place. We go to the Carniegie Deli, we get a sandwhich and share an order of potato pancakes (which were the best i've ever had) and a soda each, and we split a dessert (chocolate cheesecake), we get the bill and i ask the waiter if we pay here (at the table) or up front. the waiter says "you leave tip here and pay bill up front" The bill was 46.00 well i left the tip, and i went up front and handed the cashier the bill and my credit card (because, remember I only brought 75.00 cash and had bought my purse and breakfast) the lady hands my card back to me and says.......CASH ONLY.........well between me and my cousin we only had 44.00 (i was so embarressed) who doesn't take credit cards, especially in NY......... there was an atm next door (no shortage of atms in NY) so i go get money, go back and pay my bill. we go to 5th ave, rockefeller center, st. patricks cathedral. at the end of the day we head back to the public library where we were to catch the bus.......we were early so we decided to check out the library which was huge and beautiful.......as we were walking in, there was a group of street performers who started to sing Grandma got run over by a reindeer...I didn't realize I started to walk in front of them, once i did, i backed up and went around, only to hear them say.........That was a big reindeer........ after the library we went down the street to grab a snack for the bus ride home....we found the restaurant called The Soup Man........anyone who watched seinfeld knows this place as the Soup Nazi.........we went in to check it out, it wasn't like i imaged.........so we started to leave, the guy at the register screams NO SOUP FOR YOU! I was never so happy to get on a bus and get home. It was a lot of fun, lucky for me i'm easy going and can take a joke, and really didn't mind getting lost in Brooklyn. but what an adventure. I can get by just fine by walking and don't think i'll be braving the subway on my own again.

The Begining
When I was 4 years old I was the flower girl in my cousin's wedding. Yes that is the same cousin that has created this site with me. She was 21 years old when she got married and I doubt she ever in her wildest dreams thought that someday she would be best friends with the little bowled haired girl sucking her thumb, but it happened. The years after her wedding I seldom saw Lisa, since I lived in New Hampshire at the time and she lived in Rhode Island. Ten years later though when I moved back to Rhode Island I would go over her house to visit and play games and before either of us knew it we were best friends. And from then on it was like watch out world here comes Megan and Lisa. And that is where our one heck of a roadtrip began.
